December 6, 1919 Dr. L. H. Pammel, Iowa State College, Botanical Department, Ames, Iowa. Dear Dr. Pammel:-- I beg to acknowledge receipt of your favor of recent date, and am glad to know that the package of Fungi reached you safely, this is the third package I have sent you, which should mean three hundred specimens, others will follow as soon as I get time to put them up. I presume the package was censured the reason that one end was opened; Down here there is considerable trouble with reference to people sending whiskey and alcohol through the mail, and very often your baggage is examined when traveling, especially if it looks peculiar or you look peculiar. With sincerely good wishes, I am, Yours very truly, G. W. Carver Director Dept of Research & Experiment Station. GWC/LM:
